HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
Program Objective
To prepare the student for an exciting career in hospitality management. Students will acquire specialized skills in areas of food and beverage services, hotel and motel operations, travel and tourism and a hands-on externship experience in the hospitality industry. Students will learn management and supervisory techniques, accounting principles, customer services, and marketing and sales techniques in the hospitality industry.

Competency Profile
Upon completion of the Hospitality Management program, the graduate should be able to:
Complete menu planning, purchasing, cost, and pricing functions.
Conform to professional standards and demonstrate a professional attitude toward the hospitality industry.
Maintain high standards of sanitation in food service operations.
Utilize knowledge and skills to establish and maintain a successful food and beverage establishment.
Plan, organize and evaluate special in-house events.
Describe the appropriate equipment that is necessary to successfully operate and manage a quality food service operation.
Demonstrate and practice a knowledge of the terminology, regulations and services that are provided in the hospitality industry.
Demonstrate appropriate human relations skills in working cooperatively with employees, guests, and suppliers.
Use computer word processing and spreadsheet software packages efficiently.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the terminology, regulations, and services of the travel industry.
Perform tasks required in entry level positions in the travel industry.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of management techniques in the front office of a motel.
