Program Objective
To prepare the student for entry into a career as a Paralegal. The program stresses practical and specific paralegal skills designed to meet the employment and personnel training needs of attorneys, corporations, government agencies, law firms, legal departments of banks, insurance companies, and various business organizations. Courses in this program will provide students with skills in legal research, writings and analysis, basic concepts of substantive, administrative and procedural law, and a general understanding of the ethical and professional responsibilities of a legal assistant. Students will also acquire additional skills in keyboarding, computers, and accounting.

Upon completion of the Paralegal program, the graduate should be able to:
Demonstrate proficiency in using computer word processing and Microsoft Office software packages.
Prepare memorandums, briefs, and other forms of legal correspondence.
Research and provide reference for legal documents.
Screen and interview prospective clients.
Use legal terminology and law books for accurate legal research.
Proofread and edit appropriate law documents.
Use clear communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and maintain a professional appearance in law proceedings.
