How Can I Write My Dissertation Without A Template?

Writing a dissertation can be one of the most difficult things you can do in your academic life. You plan, do homework - read and write the essay, but what most students forget is to edit and structure the thesis paper. Mostly students tack on these two functions at the last second. Now the truth is that the best students who start writing their research paper start early, and as early as the academic year starts. Believe or not but years and years of notes taken by students get converted into a term paper. This is how they start a thesis by scratch.

Cornell style

Many times the struggle of adapting to templates binds students to a certain restriction of putting forth the ideas as they want. However more often than not these templates help the student to mould their research in a specific structure and give it the required direction without flailing all over the place. But as many freelance writers will tell you constructing a research over notes is not as easy.

This template gives you space to write by the margins, make connection and paraphrase quotes, but gives you small space to make it concise. Then there is a bottom space to critically respond to the notes. The margin space is given for keywords, themes or patterns to analyze what is relevant and worth going back to. These are the points which will make sure that keywords are the same as your research question or dissertation title. As these notes are written in such concise form, you can use these to adapt into a familiar template, your argument, writing plan, topic and sentence are already in your hand.

Standard template

As the Cornell style thesis writing template helps you to develop the raw material needed for your research from scratch. Adapting it to a standard template is really easy. Whatever template, be it MLA, APA or other, a preferred one can be downloaded and can be adapted into the paper.

A template will have a specific font size, Line spacing margin and indentations and block paragraph indentation measurements. The formatting features of the given template if specified by the university will have to be followed.

Citations and footnotes must be very specific. Following the standard procedure the biblio must be like this – for egRowling, J. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Great Britain: Bloomsbury Publishing. (2005).

In case of a website - Braiman, J. Studymode. Retrieved May 17, 2014, from studymode: .(2007).
