ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Program Objective

     Upon completion of this program, graduates will be prepared for entry level careers to serve as assistants to administrators in the world of business.  The graduate will have a fundamental understanding of financial record keeping and human resources management.  The concentration on computer education the program provides enables the graduate to comfortably enter the workforce with a grasp of word processing, file management, and spreadsheets.  With experience, the graduate will qualify for a more advanced position as an executive secretary, office manager, or computer applications specialist.

Competency Profile

Upon completion of the Administrative Assistant program, the graduate should be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer word processing, spreadsheets, and databases using Microsoft Office software programs efficiently.

  • Write and transcribe effective documents.

  • Apply accounting and management skills effectively.

  • Cooperate effectively with staff and customers through proper usage of verbal and written communication, and proper human relations skills.

  • Demonstrate professionalism in office techniques including organization skills and effective time management, records management, and supervisory skills.
