Program Objective

     To prepare the student for entry into an exciting career in the computer science industry.  Students will receive hands-on training in software applications, computer programming, and computer networking. Graduates will be prepared for an entry level position as a computer operator, programmer, or network technician.

Competency Profile

Upon completion of the Computer Science program, the graduate should be able to:
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using computer hardware and software in all phases of their work.

  • Design and develop hardware and software systems, for incorporation into the needs of employers computer technologies.

  • Identify local area networks (LANS), wide area networks (WANS), and multi-user systems.

  • Provide guidance and assistance to user departments, perform hardware and software problem solving tasks, and development and maintenance of operations documentation.

  • Assist with the setup, documentation and troubleshooting of PC networks.

  • Use computer word processing, database and spreadsheet software packages effectively.

  • Cooperate effectively with staff and customers through proper usage of verbal and written communications and proper human relations skills.
