OFFICE MANAGER
Program Objective
To prepare the student for an entry-level career as a
Medical-Dental Office Manager. Students will acquire skills in
medical law and ethics, medical-dental terminology, anatomy and
physiology, medical-dental insurance and coding, medical records,
and computer word processing. Also accounting systems, human relations, supervisory
management, records and office management and computerized
practice and account management.
The Medical or Dental Office Manager will be assigned such
tasks as arranging and confirming appointments, receiving patients,
keeping treatment records, sending bills, receiving payments,
ordering supplies and materials, completing insurance forms,
handling correspondence, and arranging for hospital admission and
laboratory services.

Upon completion of the Medical-Dental Office Manager
program, the graduate should be able to:
Apply medical office skills, such as charting, keyboarding,
answering the telephone and scheduling patients.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Perform skills necessary for clerical and secretarial duties.
Obtain a thorough understanding of medical and dental
terminology to perform adequately in the job and to enhance
personal advancement opportunities.
Demonstrate the effective use of verbal and written
communication skills in a professional manner.
Demonstrate proficiency in computer word processing
using Microsoft Office programs efficiently.
