How to Search the Internet

1) Decide what you're looking for before you start so you don't get sidetracked.

2) Pick several types of sources, including:

Encyclopedias 

Magazine databases

Online books

3) Zoom in--don't get distracted by interesting trivia that isn't what you need. 

4) Keep only "good" sources.  Look for:

A balanced presentation of facts.

A trustworthy authority sponsoring the site

A current date. 

An author.

The author's credentials.

Sources the author used to find information.
